Direct Licensing Policy (PPCA)

Groovia Music Group Pty Ltd · ACN 695 561 043 · Effective 29 August 2026

About this policy

Groovia Music Group Pty Ltd ("Groovia") owns and controls the sound recordings released under the GROOVIA name and its associated labels. Groovia is a registered licensor of the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA), and grants PPCA a non-exclusive licence to license the public performance, broadcast and communication to the public of its recordings in Australia. Because that licence is non-exclusive, Groovia also retains the right to license its recordings directly. This policy has been prepared independently by Groovia.

Our position

Groovia is willing to consider granting direct licences for the public performance, broadcast and communication to the public of sound recordings it owns or controls. Groovia does not operate a standing direct licence scheme and has no direct licences currently in place. Enquiries are considered individually, on their merits.

What may be licensed directly

A direct licence may cover the same categories of use PPCA licenses under its blanket schemes: playing recorded music in public at a venue or business premises, broadcast on radio or television, and communication to the public including online streaming and simulcast.

This policy applies only to sound recordings Groovia owns or controls. It does not apply to the underlying musical works, which are administered by APRA AMCOS and Groovia's publisher — a separate licence may also be required. It does not relate to synchronisation or master use licensing, which Groovia administers separately.

Making an enquiry

Enquiries go to sync@groovia.au and should include the music user's details, the recordings sought, and the intended use including venue or platform, territory and duration. Groovia will acknowledge within 10 business days.

How terms are determined

Groovia determines the terms of any direct licence independently and case by case. Groovia does not publish a standard rate card and does not set, discuss or coordinate its terms with PPCA or any other licensor. Groovia may decline any request, and does not license its recordings for use in connection with political campaigns or advocacy, tobacco or vaping products, gambling, adult content, or firearms.

Relationship with the PPCA licence

A direct licence covers Groovia's recordings only. A music user will still need a PPCA licence for other recordings and an APRA AMCOS licence for the underlying works. Where Groovia grants a direct licence, Groovia will notify PPCA so the same use is not also collected under the blanket licence.

Review

Groovia may amend this policy at any time.
